Hey guys, newbie here. I've been looking at the Cupra 280 for a little while now, and finally got round to test driving one today.
I currently drive a mk3 Focus ST, running somewhere between 300-310bhp.
I've been running around in Fast Fords for the last 5-6 years, having had a Mk1 Focus RS, mk7 Fiesta ST, and then 2 mk3 Focus STs.
I'm now at a point where I fancy a change, and having read plenty about the 280, I'm pretty much set on one.
My thoughts:
Looks - subtle, but you know it's hiding something. This one was Dynamic Grey with the blackline package. The colour is amazing, definitely the colour I'd go for.
Power - pulls very well, probably on par with my ST running stage 2, so pretty impressive!
Handling - very good. Slightly lighter steering than the ST, but the diff is superb, you can push much harder on bends and roundabouts etc.
General ride - comfortable, but solid in Cupra mode. Seats sit lower than the ST and are more comfortable, but don't grip quite as much. They were the standard Cupra seats, but I'd probably go for the optional buckets.
I drove the manual version. I still think I'd prefer the DSG, but ideally I want to test drive one first.
I'll definitely be looking at one in a couple of months when my 9 months are up with the Focus.
