just so you lot know about whats been going on with our old Altea 1.9TDI ( cant remeber if it was a stylance or referance , what ever the higher trim level was that was the one we had ) we were one of the first people in the country to get one and by god we wouldnt wish it on anyone 
the new one we have has had no problems *touch wood *
the old altea had all these parts replace and more
3x headunits for it turning itself on ( at the time they claimed we were the only ones but it turns out we were the first of many to have this and is now a common fault )
2x cruise control switches ( wouldnt turn on )
3 or 4 water leaks into the passenger side footwell
god knows how many dash board rattles
then on the engine front of the engine pouring black smoke etc and engine warning light and loss of power
2x ECU's
3x EGR valves ( still have one in my room if anyone wants one )
thats not including all teh other parts they cleaned and tested and still couldnt find the fault of the loss of power and the smoke and eventually they took the car back and gave us another one
