I am new to the world of Seats after recently purchasing one after many years of owning Golf's.

I have bought a Seat Leon Cupra TDI(Mk 1) "54" reg with 37000 miles on it and so far I am very happy with it and think it drives better than the Golf's and look much better also.

Interior materials perhaps not as good as VW's but very happy.

Just looking for guidance on what common faults to look for on them.

I have heard about rainwater leaks into the car on some Leons but that is the only things I have heard are common.

Is there any things to look out for?

Cheers

common faults, maf s now and again coilpacks ,rear wash wiper jet......
thats a few of the top of my head... other than that there bulletproof.................

i keep hearing this, but the interior is straight out of an A3 so i find this hard to believe.

i've also been in mk4 golfs plenty of times and i think the leon has the same quality level of materials, if not better..

New Seat Leon owner

Thanks for the info.

I assume the rear washer jet problem is the same as the golf.I had the jet break inside the motor block and also the hose connection break at the jet and also the tee piece just before the roof lining at the back of the car.

Is there any mechanical parts on the Seats that are not VAG parts? Are they the same part number as I see Seat dealers use the same parts program(Etka) that Vw and Audi use?

I also found the clutch a bit lighter and the gearchange a bit smoother than the Golf; not as "notchy" when changing? Is the clutch and gearbox components the same as VAG parts?

I also had heard some Seat owners say they thought the paint seem to be a bit "softer" as the paint tended to chip easier.I am not sure if that is the case or not.

I would definitely say I am a Seat convert from the Golf.I am even considering changing my other car for a Seat Leon Cupra R.

Thanks again:p
