Newbie please help

Hello this may sound stupid ,

I have a 2004 cupra r and where the stereo goes just below that is the unit that contols the aircon etc

i think its the on board computer iv'e only just got the car

my screen gone all all black due to some one pressing it too hard

How much is this to replace and where would i get 1 from and are they easy to do

any help would be great

And what does it actually do does it tell you how much fuel .. is this the main cpu ? like i said only just got the car its mint apart from this does the car have to have it or will it run ok? might sound stupid or does this just contol the air con

Not sure as I've never had the need. But I think there's just 3 or 4 plugs on the reverse side and that's about all there is to it (once you got it out of the dash that is). May need a reset when you get the new unit in to set it to factory values, and there'll be a procedure to do that by pressing buttons I believe.

No problem. There is actually a cheaper unit on Ebay at the moment on an auction, so that may be a better bet. It's got a couple of days left to run and is about £130 at the moment.
