Since I got my LCR my air vents have been really noisy, sometimes they even sound squealy. Does anyone know what would cause this?

I appreciate that air blowing through would make a certain amount of noise but this is substantially louder than it should be.

Thanks in advance.

Is this a common fault? I had searched the forum but I was searching for more air vent related things!

Is there a guide at all for giving them a little freshen up? They still function as they should just sounds like they could do with a bit of grease somewhere or something!

Is your cabin filter clear,

Might be this making it sounds noisy as it is working harder to bring in fresh air

My mate had a similar problem on his Toledo, the fan bearings were basically lumps of dirt rather than steel. Yours being a mark 1 Leon would suggest to me that his fix might apply.

He removed the glovebox and lower shelf, and that gave him access to the whole unit. He removed it from the car and gave it a complete soaking in all sorts of fluids. He did mention what the stuff looked like, but I don't want to make the thread NSFW.

Anyway, once it was all clean and shiny (and moving!) he greased up the relevant parts, put it all back together and all his problems went away. It's about an hours work?
