Hi All,

to all you that have onvi yellow cupra's and R's i recently used yellow T cut on my car didnt make a huge diff to fade im assuming my car wasnt polished alot as i polish it once a week. i want it to be one colour again is there anything else i can use apart from a spray gun for this buffer etc.

thanks in advance

because of the type of paint used by seat it doesnt polish up sadly, respray is the only option, just get friendly with a sprayer, i only paid £150 for mine full job ;)

Yeah defo... Mine was fully stripped down at the place, so i guess you pay for what you get... Glad it wasnt just a tape the windows up job though tbh.

Makes me feel better about the 2k price I've been quoted
I drive it there and they strip it and rebuild and that's with a firm I go trackdaying with and trust

Where is jakes though?

rochdale , im in leeds but only 45mins away so it not bad i wanted someone who knew how the car should look and how i want it to be and jake is the man , just had a slight problem in the polishing stage and has resulted in been resprayed again due to the silicone in the old paint which for the past 3 months i have washed the car in washing up liquid to strip the wax back and jake has used his stuff on top but least i know the problem is been solved think most spray shops would not of told me , but i know its going to look the nuts when its finnished

Abit of a trek for me then my bodyshop/garage is in the next village :) can't get much closer than that

just check that there workmanship is up to your standard i looked at 4 bodyshops before going for jake's but to be honest i wanted to use jake to start off with still no harm in looking round

Yeah I know what you mean I've had cheaper quotes from elsewhere but there workmanship isn't quite right and my mate is a perfectionist who will be doing it

Yeah mate by all means ask him I don't mind spending £350 in petty lol just gotta find out my issue with my car and go from there really gonna be broke for a lil while but yeah ask him :) thanks mate

I am led to believe that the Lacquer they sprayed on from the factory didn't have enough UV light inhibitors. Therefore the sunlight shines through the lacquer and fades the paint underneath.

When some of the lacquer peeled on mine, I tried some polish on the exposed paint and it worked.

Along with having one side of the car re-sprayed, the painter sorted a few panels on the other side of the car by removing the lacquer, polishing & then re-lacquering.

o nice i haven't got no laquer peel yet might just get it sprayed then ill be happy with a better paint job etc and its polished every week regardless of weather
