Oil recommendations?

I have a 2021 seat Leon estate mk4, It will be having a service done soon by myself just wondering on what oil is the best to use for the car.

There should be a sticker under the bonnet above the radiator indicating the recommended oil viscosity.

Thanks for the help mate, I’ve taken a photo of the sticker under my bonnet this is the only thing it says.

yes it is suitable.

That's what I use for top up.

I would recommend sticking some better brands, for example, Shell, Castrol, and Total, especially for ETSI

Good advice for change, I've used less than 1L as top up in 3 years. Much better consumption than my MK3.5 was.

That's interesting as my last 1.4 engine in a facelifted MK3 used to have quite the drinking problem, but the next two MK4's with 1.5 engines shared the same 1L top up bottle between them.

My 1.5 gets topped up with approx. less than a 1/4 L over 8-9000 miles.

Local garage always put Shell or Total in mine of which I top up with as I ask for the can..

Can't help it but the lawn mower also gets Shell..

That oil is not "approved" to the VW 508 specification.
Their technical data sheet just says performance level 508.

I would only use an oil which says "approved" to 508.
You can find lists for VW approved oils suppliers, which have been approved as 508 specification.

For example from Mobil - they say 'approved' It would be illegal for them to say this if it wasn't approved and matching the VW spec.

There was a court case on the naming convention of engine oils - the outcome was basically oil suppliers can only use 'approved' if it is actually approved by the OEM.
Equivalent to, Matches, Equals, Same Performance etc... are just marketing terms.
