I pick my new ibiza up tomorrow! Yayyy!

But had a phone call this evening saying there's minor paintwork damage, they said I can still collect the vehicle but they will need it to go into the workshop for it to be fixed at a time that suits me and this is all covered under the warranty, they will give me a car for the day too whilst it's being fixed.

I have already sorted my old car out (trade in) and I don't want to wait any longer even with the slight damage, I was going to take photos anyway so should I just take some of the damage & get it in writing about them fixing it before I sign anything?

The dealership have been great so far and upfront about this so I don't have any worries that it would back fire just wanted to make sure about where I stood, I'm a little annoyed because it's brand new but at the end of the day it's bound to get scratched at some point! It's on our lovely roads! Just didn't think it would happen before I have driven it!

Why can't they give you a loan car tomorrow, and then you pick up your new car when it's fixed?

That way you don't accept sub-standard, and they don't get their sales commission until it's done.

It does seem a bit silly to collect it and use it prior to this damage being sorted out - and also might make things awkward depending on who is paying for this damage to get fixed - ie SEAT SP, SEAT UK or delivery company - or even your dealership.

Completing the trade in might be possible without completing the collection, if so do that if they can rustle up a loan car.

They having now maybe failed to complete that transaction on time is not your problem, and maybe not their one - depending on who/where/when it was damaged.

The main thing is you'll get to see the damage first, they may say it's minor ,but you may feel unhappy about the damage and this way you can reject the car,and if you're happy with having it repaired make sure it's the same as factory fresh ie no filler because "hopefully" a new car doesn't have filler from the factory !

Picked it up this morning, it only had slight paintwork damage so it's booked in to be fixed in a weeks time, You can't even tell unless you sit on the floor and look! These things happen and I wasn't that annoyed because they phoned and told me, if I turned up and then found it myself that would of made me upset!

It's all being fixed and I get a car for the day so it's all good :)

My memory of getting a damaged car was, wandering along to my Ford dealer as my new Orion Ghia Injection was due, I spotted it on the top deck of a transporter with the driver's door bent out a bit at the top - not good, I went in to talk to my sales guy and he said "your car is due in this week" - to which I replied "wrong, it is outside and has a damaged driver's door!" - it got sorted out okay though. He just did not have much luck with that order to supply my new car, the dealership dragged its heels too much over getting it built to spec and I needed to report them to the local Ford office, which did not go down too well it seems, but they took my order then played around too much so they got what they deserved, the unfortunate sales guys seemed to need to leave that dealership soon after that and, maybe jokingly, said to me when we crossed paths in a restaurant that that sale seemed to seal his fate and he took off for a Skoda/SEAT sales job.
