Hi, i have a Seat Ibiza Cupra 2010.

The entertainment system is standard CD player with Media. I have 2 inputs Aux and USB, i have an iPhone 7 which i would like to use to play music while it charges.

But!! to play music i have to use the Aux socket as the USB does not recognise that the phone is a media player.

Iphone >Lighting adaptor to aux cable > aux in to the car - Works plays my music but no more inputs on my phone to charge it while playing.

Is there a way around this, do i need to get my entertainment system upgraded to allow usb input to play music and charge. Or would i be best just buying an iPod and if so would this work through the USB ?

Thanks...

Had a quick look through some old posts on here to try to find an answer.

To get this working with the existing system you will need the following:
6J0051700B (Ipod cradle) or
000051785b (Ipod cable)

These are expensive but it is what is required for iPhone connectivity. You will also need a 30 pin to lightning adapter. This should give you full control of the phone (track text, skipping tracks etc). There are cheaper alternatives to the cable which split the lightning into USB and aux, USB is for charging only though.

Or you can get a new head unit with iPhone or Bluetooth A2DP support, but this is much more costly!!

Perfect, thank you for your reply. I was thinking of upgrading to add a screen/satnav so may as well invest and add abit of value to the car.

Plus the sound quality of the Aux is somewhat terrible theres a lot of feedback.

Thanks again
