Had a call from the dealer warning me that if the battery charge drops to 0% for driving in electric then the car will refuse the start at all, even if there’s petrol in the tank.

The tip for rapid self charging is to put the car into hybrid mode and set the power reserve manually to 100%. Managed to get around 50-60% charge in just over an hour of driving.

Just a heads up…

That tip about self charging is a great one, never thought of doing that. Tried it yesterday and got about 30% charge in half an hour. I know you're using fuel to charge the battery but sometimes it's nice to have some electric power in reserve to run in electric only.

As for not starting at 0% I can't say I've ever had a problem. It's regularly got no juice left at the end of a journey and never had a problem starting it.

The self charging tip is good but the dealer is talking nonsense about the hybrid battery being flat means the car won’t start. The car car run on electric or petrol that’s the whole point of it. I discharge my battery in full everyday commuting and there’s never been an issue with the car just starting on petrol when the hybrid battery becomes flat.

Of course you can drive to 0% ( shows not less than 1%)
There is both top and bottom buffer the car use only 80% of the capacity.
And you have petrol engine as well.
