As family expansion is imminent, we found that we needed a bigger car. After considering some different brands and models, we dropped the decision on a Skoda Octavia station wagon.

Four-wheel drive and diesel was not required, but definitely preferred! The choice fell on this '08 model with 105hk tdi, 4x4 and lots of equipment (just satnav and part leather seats missing I think..).

This is strictly speaking not my car, but plans so far include a engine heater (-27C at the moment :p ), miscellaneous equipment, and possibly some window tint.

Needs a good clean and I'll be back with more pics! :)

Another 4x4 in the fleet :D

Good to see it's not replaced the Leon :)

4x4 is the way to go up in these mountains! ;) Also road conditions are generally crap :p

Replacing the leon? :ban:
Nah, I'll be keeping it for a long time!

Electrical engine heater is ordered, along with a interior heater. Getting both installed for £350. :D

Gave it a quick wash after work today! :)
I must say I'm impressed of the comfort! It ain't quick with its 105hk, but pulls really well in my opinion. I guess the six speed manual helps alot though! :)
Anyways, here are some pictures:

Engine and interior heater

Installed the electrical engine- and interior heater last night. Fitting the heater to the cooling system and wiring was the easy part, while wiring into the coupe for the interior heater was a struggle. I think the engine heater is a 500W element, while the interior one puts out 1850W(!) Also refitted a loose pipe for the light washers. All in all pretty happy with the results, and placing of the socket. :)

Was out driving in a serious blizzard today..
Then I found a Toyota Hilux with a trailer stuck in the snow in the ditch.
First I pulled away his trailer, then I had a go at pulling him back up onto the road! The road was very slippery, but with help from the 4x4 I managed to get him up. Respect! :)
If I had fwd I wouldn't have bothered trying! :)

How does the engine heater work?
Engine heater is placed on a coolant hose, close to the oil cooler (at least was on my engine).
It's a 550w element that you hook up to the AC grid, with the coolant running through it. This way, if mounted correctly, the thermical effects will cause the heated coolant to flow around, thus warming the engine. Its a must to have up here, if you need to use the car in say, -35C! :)

Easier to start, lower emissions, lower consumption and less wear.
I've combined mine with the 1850w comfort kit, which means getting into a warm car, with no ice on the windows! :)

You can get all sorts of combinations, even with a battery charger, programable remote control etc.

Have a look at http://www.defa.com/en/html/fp/!

-Hope this answers your question! :)

At least its only the plastic lamp and not the bodywork! :)
true! still expensive enough I guess.

Nice car - shame she has had a bump already what are the plans for this in terms of modification?
Thanks!
Actually there are a couple of others as well. on the rear wings. one is so sharp it looks like a bullet hole!

Modifications might include some more window tinting. Thats about it, for now. Lowering and remapping is out of the question. For now!

Stock is 105hp/ ? torque. wouldn't hurt with more, at the sameish fuel consumption!

Fitted the summer wheels the other day.
Longest lasting wheel swap ever, must have used 1,5hrs.

The centre caps were bolted to the stupid DM wheels.
The stupid spigot rings didn't come off with the wheel.
There were two different lengths of bolts which someone had messed up.
On top of this all the tyres were mounted in the same direction..

Had it in on a service a few days ago, oil and filters changed. Got an heads up that the brake pads were due to change soon, but thats all.

Second time I'm reconnecting the LHS lamp washer pipe. It's an clip type connection, I'm guessing it's too weak. If it comes off one more time, there will be an rubber hose and proper hose clamps!

Before the trip last week I inflated the tires with 2.5bar front ant 3.2bar rear.
Filled it up with a stroller and some baggage and off we went.
I feel like mentioning that I never tried for the best mpg possible, driving normally with quite a few overtakes, and some urban driving as well. AC was used most of the time as well. The numbers:

681,7km / 423,2mi
39,56l / 8,58 UK gal
5,4l/100km / 52,3mpg <-- shown
5,8l/100km / 48,7mpg <-- actual

All in all happy with the consumption :D
