hi, as sed above. im planning on giving my car a good detail, but not with a polisher lol. jus wondering if i could use auto glym super resin polish before or after using the poorboys? best way?

I wouldnt use the two together as they both do similar tasks albeit SRP is a "stronger" polish.

Both a filler heavy and both have cleaning agents so I would only use one or the other. Blackhole is mainly used as a glaze to hide swirls and imperfections in the paint.

Are you applying by hand? I personally would use SRP and a good wax on top to seal in the finish.

So at what stage would u apply the blackhole with a machine polisher? Jus a quick question jonjay or any1 else in the detailing scene. What the best products stage by stage with a polisher? Im thinkin of gettin 1 this week, mummy sed she will get me 1 for my birthday :)

lol!
you want black hole on after claying/abrasive polishing. its a gaze, so gives the shine ready for a wax or sealant.
do you mean which polishes and pads?

Ye which polishes and pads. Im gettin a da poilisher soon and would like some info on what products are the best for a polisher? Cheers

What do you want to achieve?

If your looking for paint correction then get a Dual Action polisher kit and start from there. You could get a dual action polisher, pads and use SRP. SRP works best with a DA.

Whats srp? Is it a make of polish? Wen u get the da kit wil it specificly tell you what pads are for what? I wanna no what order of polish wax etc amd the best makes to use. I want to achieve a little correction but mainly a really deep shine. And recommendations? Thanks for ur help

SRP = Auto Glym Super Resin Polish... the world of detailing is all about acronyms !

For pad and polish i tend to stick to Meguiars pads and Menzerna polishes. These are all pretty straight forward as to what pad / polish does what. The pads are either Cutting (hard polishing), Polishing (medium to light polishing) and Finishing (pretty straight forward). The polishes have a grade on them to show the level of cut they give...

When you start to polish you should always start with the lightest cut pad and polish you have, run this for a few passes and access the level of defect removal you are getting. If that combo doesnt touch the finish then you step up the polish using the same pad. If that doesnt get the desired result you keep the 2nd polish and step up the pad... you do this until you get the desired result without taking too many microns of clear / paint (depending on paint type) off the car.

Note though that if you have to go as far as a cutting pad and high cut polish this probably wont work down to a finish that you can then lay protection onto. You would more than likely have to follow that with what is called a refining stage using a light pad and polish combo to get an LSP (Last Stage Protection) ready finish.

Seems straight forward to you lol. Thanks for your help tho. If you or jonjay lived closer i would have you do mine. I can see me enjoyin it when i get the hang of it. Its jus what products to buy that stumps me. Do u buff off with a polisher or by hand? Or buffer?

I tend to buff by hand. Very rarely do you need to buff off with machine. I think I only ever done it once and didnt like it.

Would always buff by hand with decent MF cloths... i'm not sure i would ever have the need to buff with a machine, it runs the risk of marring the finish surely !

cheers guys for the info ;) going to get a meguiars da strater kit, but it only comes with 2 pads and 2 products which are glaze and a polishing product. is ther anything i could do with buyin extra as a starter??

How much is the kit you are looking at because the Megs DA is probably the most expensive machine and the cheaper options are the same unit pretty much.

This kit would set you up quite nicely

This is the same kit which additional polishes and slightly different pads.
