Got my vagcom cable and pulled this fault code:
17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)
P1297 - 35-00 - -

------------------------------------
Is this a known little fix or is it a serious mechanic hell to solve this?
When car idles I can hear a distant siren/supercharged sound, it moves with the rpm's..
I must say I have noticed a bit lack of power on my LC..
Hoping it's not a new turbo cause then it'l be no christmas gifts for my family this year :p

Anyone experienced this kind of problem? Im not that technical, but I know a thing or two so i'm hoping this is a problem i can deal with myself.

How do i check for vac leaks in the most efficient way?

Best Regards
Glenn

Sounds like a vacuum leak, check the complete PVC system (do a search, has been discussed many times), + check the connections to the pancake pipe (if you have original setup).

If you dont want/cant do it yourself, get it smoked checked (best way) by a garage.

My car is original, I only have a CAI kit. What is the pancake pipe and what does a smoke test determine?
Thanks for your reply :)

Well, i don't know if that's correct, but im still getting the code for pressure drop between turbo and throttle valve.. I owned this car 2 years ago, and recently got it back (2 months ago) :D
My earlier experiences with this car is only good. But maybe it has something to do with the cold weather? We've had down to -15C here now, but right now its +7 and heavy rain, going to check if the "siren" is still there when i leave work..

Pancake pipe sits after the wheel at drivers side (in Uk at least ;) ). Its called pancake pipe because it is "smashed". This pipe connects the upper boost pipe to the intercooler. The hose between the upper boost pipe and pancake pipe is known to leak at the connection.

Smoke test shows where the leaks are, if smoke can be seen, there's a leak :D

Had this fault many times in different customer cars!

- remove throttle body and clean with air intack / carb / brake cleaner, valve doesn't shut enough hence throwing that fault!

Hey Luke, thanks fyi! Did you have this experience with your leon? And do you know of any diy TB removal/cleaning? Probably going to need a TBA after the cleaning?
If you are spot on i will send you a medal..

Only need to do that if you have no boost leaks visible. Check the turbo intake pipe. Quite common to split where it enters the turbo!

Yes just remove it clean it, the recalibrate it, don't need to replace gasket!easy todo don't need a guide :)

if you are check that you have the new piston, i had the same issue, the dv leaks. get the new piston (flat bottom) i got mine from fleabay for under £20

Holy ****.. What does this mean?? Can you see the hose thats cut straight off??? All oily underneath :-( probably the cause of the fault code?

Lol you are missing a piece. You found out the problem :) The piece is part of the PCV system (positive crankcase ventilation), I would recommend to change all PCV related hoses to be sure. Check the site from Creations Motorsport for silicone replacements, which should outlast the OE hoses.

The missing hoses cuases lumpy behaviour and error codes like the pressure drop.

There ya go laddy

Hell yeah im missing a piece:p Thank you so much for the info, looked up some silicone hoses and i must say they're quite expensive to only be hoses. Is it dangerous to drive with the hose like that? Cheers
