Good evening ladies and gents, as the subject says does anyone on here use rainx on their front windscreen??

Just thought i'd ask as the upright wipers would lean towards using it in wet conditions!!

I use rainX on my car. Would never drive in heavy rain without they stuff. hardly have to use the wipers at motorway speeds if you have applied a good layer on.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS (oops caps lock) on a previous car i found that at anything over about 25 mph the wind would push the rain droplets straight off the windscreen and as said, in heavy rain i found that ONLY intermittant wipers were required. also it somehow casues the rain droplests to form differnetly on teh screen in such a way that any rain on there is far less of a restriction to your view than if rainX wasnt used...difficult to describe but i found it excellent

Does any one find that it smears quite alot?
nope it never smeared on me, i cleaned the screen with decent glass cleaner - nilglass - and applied a couple of coats then it lasted for months.

well worth it......reminds me to buy some more!......

i used this on one of my previous cars and loved it !!! it is a very good product !! like said above, at motorway speeds you dont need to use full wipers as the water is blasted off !! the part i liked the most about this was when you were aproaching the speed for the water to be blasted off it felt like going into warp speed !! :D

i don't get much smearing. Apply with a microfibre applicator and give it a good haze. Then buff off with some damp paper towels or damp news paper. buffing with a dry cloth is futile as it's extremely hard to buff off the haze.

I think it tends to smear more if you try and use your wipers with it.

At night in heavy rain due the the way the water must sit on the screen with Rain X I don't have to use wipers at all.

Over 50mph it's amazing stuff, a must for anyone doing decent motorway mileage.

I use the RainX Glass Cleaner - Basically glass cleaner for when you have finished cleaning your car, with the added benefit of the RainX effect! It as about £2.50 from Halfrawds! Will easily last a month, but I tend to use it after every car wash.

Works brilliantly, I do a lot of motorway miles, around 35K a year, and as mentioned anything over around 45MPH you do not need to use your wipers, the rain just glides up the screen.

I have found that the it does smear, but the smearing I get with it on the screen is much less distracting than the smearing I get without out it on the screen. If you have got new wipers then the smearing goes away virtually. Mine are in sh1t condition.

All in all go for it, well worth it. I think the value for money on the Glass Cleaning version is good, as I am not buying both glass cleaner and RainX, just buying one product which is the same price as normal glass cleaner.

There was a thread on here about another product - I forget the name - that was meant to be much better than RainX, lasted 18 months, and did not smear. Might be in the detailing section.

Another vote for this, works excellently on my car, and doesn't smear at all. (well, it'll start to smear when the windscreen gets dirty again, but this isn't the RainX, its the dirt). Lasts a good four weeks as well I find.

Yeh, the smearing is because of the state my wipers are in. I will add that if I do not apply it, and it rains, the smears left by my wipers are so bad I cannot read the number plate of the car in front! With it on, its no problem!

I put some on my brothers new Corsa and it does not smear at all!

Yeh only smears with the wipers on, evan if I buff it off with a wet cloth.

buff with a dry cloth ;)

i normally use a sprinkle of water and a newspaper and this does the trick for me.

you can also get windscreen rain-x additive which helps it last longer. i got some from a car boot for £1 bargain.

Yep - use all the time.

Only issue I have is I find I'm still doing high speeds in absolutely terrible wet conditions as you just don't realise how heavy it is raining with the rain-x on.

It only smears when you use the wiprs in my experience.

Thats what i'm getting at!

I've used it a few times now with different methods of buffing off and it's still the same.

Do the people who use it never use the wipers with the rainx?

Evan with the stuff on you still need to use the wipers i find

Only find I need the wipers on if at slow speeds (below 40mph as the rain does not run off)

I don't believe there s a special way of adding this stuff without it smearing when the wipers are on?
