As my car is nearly 3 years old I thought I had better regrease the sliding pins in the rear calipers. This is not a difficult job ( though the pins are different designs top and bottom) but if not done, the grease drys out, and if you jet wash your wheels often, water can get inside the rubber seals and seize the pins. Anyone else done this job?

I've not done it on my Mk5 yet as it's not 2 years old yet.

I did it on my Mk4 though, although only after the rear brakes started binding :hide: Turned out one of the pins was seized and took some serious hammer and punch action to get it free. Definitely a routine maintenance job worth doing every year or so, it doesn't appear that main dealers do it as part of the services because my Mk4 had SEAT FSH.

don't go mental with the grease though our foresters in my garage have issues with the brakes binding on because of too much grease

easy to do though

And use aluminium anti seize paste rather than copper grease on the slide pins.

Copper just adds a third metal in to the corrosion pot and can accellerate it.

i use silicon grease, and have done so for many years on volvos.
as previously mentioned, avoid copper grease, which does not have particular good lubrication qualities
