Hi,

I have recently fitted Valeo parking sensors using the factory markings on the inside of the bumper. This means they run in a line under the number plate on my BTCC bumper. Problem I have is now they are wired in the centre two sensors are picking up the ground so sounding all the time, I have had to disable these for now, the two corner ones are fine.

Reading the instructions it says they need to be a minimum of 45cm from the ground but the factory places are only 42cm from the ground. I have angled them using the different surrounds but nothing works. Strange as the corner ones look like they are angled less but are fine.

So it looks like I need to buy another kit which works closer to the ground. Can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks

mine did the same. I moved the sensor wire at the box. put sensor 1 wire in for sensor 2 and sensor 2 wire in sensor 1 and it seems to work ok now. don't know if will cure yours though.

Cool, so I have (from passenger side) A,B C,D. So I need to put wires like B,A D,C

I'll give it a go, the reason behind this possibly working is the corner ones do not scan as far. Thanks, I'll let you know what happens.

You can get wedge shaped washers that you put between the sensor and bumper to angle the sensor upwards.
Did you not get these with the kit, both kits I have had included these.

Yeah, tried all three sizes of surround to change the angle but all did the same. I have been out just now and swapped the wires around but had same result.

The bloke at http://www.proparkuk.com/ who I had out to put sensors on the wifes Mondeo ST seems to think he has a kit which will work. It means I'll have to pay and start from scratch but he is pretty confident. Should have used him from the start but never mind. The CKO kit can have the sensors setup from the control box, he has fitted them to the vauxhall vans where the sensors are a lot lower then I will need so should work fine.

Having recently fitted some to my cupra I looked at how they fit on the cupra r , they run along the top side of the bumper just below the curve line , I'd say the sensors are too low .

Thought I would ask dealer for a quote to fit....... no chance in hell would I pay them that amount they asked me. Would love parking sensors and lucky there is a techie at work who knows how to do this from past experience and offered to assist me.

Dead easy job , I got my sensors from eurocarparts for 20 quid includes cone cutter , painted them to match for 10 quid and fitted them myself in an hour , 2 wires only live feed from reverse in loom and earth . Bet the dealer wanted 250 to do a simple job !!

Couple of weeks ago I bought a Cobra A0258 Parkmaster kit, the slightly updated version but with smaller sensors than the A0158 kit that SEAT dealers sell (for £130+ excl fitting ) . I mounted them in the higher position with the markings also inside the bumper, and they work faultlessly, not bad for £67 + approx £12 of paint.

Well I seem to have fixed it. It doesn't appear to have been the ground causing the issue.

I went out this morning with a fresh approach and thought that with the widest angle surrounds the middle sensors were pointing a lot higher then the outer sensors and the outer ones were fine. So I started to think about the number plate, with the surround it sticks out loads. So I put the smallest angle surrounds back on the centre sensors and removed the number plate and it all works fine.

I put the number plate back on without surround and had the issue again so I have ended up with no number plate surround and the number plate about 1cm higher. All seems good now so I'm happy :)

Glad you got it sorted.

How hard were they to fit?
Can you turn them off if not needed? I know in the mk5 golf there is a button to mute the sensors, does seat do a similar thing?
What is included in the kit, like instructions, hole cutter, etc?

They look great, very discreete.
