Remote key, slightly different to the usual...

Howdo guys n gals,
I know there are about a million very good threads on here (and a really decent guide too) on how to program thr RCL keys in.
However I'm a little unclear on a couple of things as I've managed to buy a V5 toledo (170) with only one key, and the one key it has is not a RCL key.

I'm a little bit unsure of where to start really, as I'm a tad worried that with only one key to work with I may bugger the whole shebang up!

Am I being too much of a wuss and should I just crack on and buy a fob off gheybay or should I sack it all off and just keep using the key in the door technique?

As a newb I apologise for asking this for the bazillionth time :duck:

Cheers
Jay

By the sounds of it, you won't be any worse off if you can't get it coded? (apart from a few quid out of pocket) The RCL and key encoding circuits are two different things, so have a go at the RCL stuff first. Then if that works fine you can look at encoding the key, or swapping transponders, or any of those fun games...

Fair enough, guess I'd best stick some money on the line and get myself a RCL fob. Any clues which frequency I should go for?

Ah, now you're asking a challenging question!! If you check the posts, there is one particular frequency that works every time, but some have got the other frequency to work. Personally I'd go with the one that everyone got working!!

looks like it should be the 433 frequency (I think...), although anyone is welcome to correct me before I go spending on a piece of plastic that won't work ;)

Go on, take a risk!! :)

(Don't forget to post results, there's so many posts on here where people say they're going to try something then not actually post whether they were successful!)

Well it's good to see you're willing to risk my money ;)

I will certainly be doing it and posting the results on here, however it might take a while as there are a few other issues with non Seat stuff that demand my cash also... :(
