Ribbed Belt in Service History means what exactly?

Hi,

As the title says really, I plan on putting some more power though my Leon Cupra but before I do so I want to ensure that the Cam Belt has been changed as the dealer couldn't tell me whether or not the last owner had done it.

I noticed around 10k miles ago on the service the 'Ribbed Belt' had been replaced according to the check.

The only logical thing I could think that this relates to is the Timing Belt, if anybody knows for certain though please let me know as it will save me £200!

Thanks,

It could also mean the Auxiliary belt

As in the belt that goes over the Alternator/A/c pump etc

I bought mine privately a couple of months ago. all the service history is with the car and the guy i bought it off said the garage had changed the timing belt at the last service, the 'ribbed belt' box had been ticked.

However, either one or both of them was full of sh@t as it hadn't been done at all. Also, if the 'ribbed belt' means the drive belt, they hadn't done that either.

My advice would be, to get it checked. It would take a garage around 30 mins to whip the timing covers off and check the belt and tensioner.
