Right,

It's the start of the new year and something I didn't have time for last year was mountain biking, so this year I am doing it properly!

I've bought some SEAT roof bars for the Leon and am thinking of getting some Thule 530 bike racks to put on the bars.

Has anyone used these or any roof mounted carrier? I would like to know how stable/safe they are, as most places good for mountain biking are also good for driving, hence I don't want the bikes falling off if I doing anything a bit ....fun.

I have no experience with roof mounted carrier so any thought would be great.

Cheers!

i have the 591 and its the best bike rack you can buy. Very stable even at 90mph and very easy to use (takes less than 30 seconds to load the bike). Also very secure due to thule locking system. Just mind out for height restrictors in car parks!

Thanks, that's good to know, the 530 is just the cheap version of the 591, I've never heard a bad word about thule. But it isn't widely publicised that they can do 90mph no problems! That's all I really needed to know!lol. The 530 is only £30 so will get one and see how it is!

I've got my SEAT bars now and put my Thule 530 on them tonight. I have found that it clips on OK at the front (with the T-bolts loosened quite a bit) but not at the back (I have to loosen the T-bolts until they come free - which is useless)

Has anybody use this rack on the SEAT bars - do you need an adapter?
