Hi again,

Picked up a second hand leon, everything is fine with her apart from what seems like a rubbing noise, always at about 40mph. Anyone had this problem or know what might be causing it?

Thanks, David

hi, thanks for the reply, to be honest, i'm not really sure where it's coming from. the car was laid up for the best part of a year so I changed the starter, oil, filters, the works. i got a set of audi tt wheels which I put on her but the noise only seems to be happening at 40mph and then stops so i thought that ruled out the alloys although i could be wrong. it's feels like something rubbing when you're driving and the pitch stays the same if you could call it a pitch. would if have anything to do with the gear box?

Is this on a LCR by any chance with Brembo brakes?
If it is does the wheels clear the calipers?
Wouldn't be rust on the discs or bits of brake pad stuck to the disc would it?

Okay just checked your profile and won't be calipers but might be bits of pad stuck to disc. Why did you change the starter motor? Take it it didn't work

hi again, i thought it could be the brakes or wheels but because it ws only happening at a certain time, i ruled it out. i'll take the wheels of at the weekend and have a root around. i changes the starter because it was making that horrible grating noise, tried lubing it but made no difference so I picked one up cheap at a scrap yard and did a swap, worked a treat, thanks for the advise, david
