What are people thoughts of this when running std/chipped ecu?

Bit concerned if I run without it mapped up it might run lean/detonate?

Cheers

Your fueling is set by the maf and lambda probes, so it'll make no difference, unless your airflow is greater than the fueling your injectors can provide.

Thats what I thought the maf would take care of it.

"unless your airflow is greater than the fueling your injectors can provide"

What are the chances of this happen? Slim I reckon?

I think what Bill and John are saying is the same thing - if the injectors can't cope, the adaptation limit would (eventually) be reached. Only if the injectors are seriously undersized would it be a problem.

It'd chuck a code if it did happen, surely - "Long term fuel trims" or similar. People run with duff MAFs till a code gets thrown and don't see any damage.

Just have to log A/F ratio?

I would hazard adaption would trip before injectors were out of puff.. as a guess.

when I fitted my 007 mani and R32 t'body I max'd out my injectors big time physically. anything over 1.5bar and 5K rpm it went lean as you like no matter how much tweeking you could do on uni_settings.
Remapped on 3bar FPR (was 4) on 750cc and adjust downward and it was controlled again.
added FP red and ran out of fueling again immediately. pop 4bar back on and tweek back a little on uni_settings

all with the use of wideband.

I take it it just runs very very slightly lean not majorly lean that causes detonation Bill?

lean=melting under boost usually when excessive
EGT's would be very high.

You have wideband as std tho so can view whats going on under load.
uni_settings and a vag-com lead can do some channel adjustments which works well with logging to review.

wilko uses his lambda heater as a pseudo EGT measurement... not going to be too reliable IMHO, too far away from turbine.

afr on logged vag-com will have a lambda value. 1 on idle, cruising etc.
you would expect to see it drop to 0.8 under boost, 0.78, 0.75 etc richer mixture as the numbers fall.

If you see 0.8, 0.9, >1 under boost then its lean as. be carefull.

The LCR's has a egt sensor in the turbo housing not sure if you can read it or if it is the cat temp value.

I'm going to go to largest aquamist jet size to be on the safe side.

Update:

Lets just say I am not a happy camper. The head is going back, as hes not even done the work hes meant to of said he was going to do.

It looks good from a distance but on closer inspection hes not even enlarged the ports which has really pissed me off. [:@]
