Some toe rag has left me with a lovely scuff on my Freetrack rear bumper. From the look of things they were obviously trying to reverse park behind me - the space was huge but they still couldn't manage it without catching my bumper!![:@]

Anyway, my question is can these type of rubber/plastic bumper scuffs be professionally repaired? Do any other Freetrack owners have any experience or knowledge of this type of thing?
Many thanks.

Scratch resistant they ain't! Infact the Freetrack bumpers are probably the worst thing about the car IMO. Our car has lots of marks on the bumpers even though the bodywork is immaculate. We even have a scratch that has completely taken away the crappy rubber spray on coating showing the black plastic below. The bumpers certainly mark much easier than they would of had they been painted in normal paint.

If you find a way of repairing or touching them up please report back!

These bumpers are just normal clear over base metalic, but with matt clear laquer to finish them of, easier than normal texture bumpers to repair, as long as you have the know how

You don't have a Freetrack mate. They are certainly not clear over metallic base, they are rubber coated. It's exactly the same stuff that VW group use to coat interior fittings in cars such as the MkIV Golf - and it wears just as badly.

I wish!

bungle, totally agree these Freetrack bumpers aren't scratch resistant in the slightest, despite what they claim in the brochure!

They're painted with a rubbery compound but the slightest scratch cuts through that to the base plastic.

I'll take it to the dealers when I have the time and see if they can do anything.

Your right Bungle I dont have a freetrack but I am a painter in a seat Franchise, I've colour coded Freetracks, repaired there bumpers etc, but you own one so you know best.

I might be wrong but I don't think there's any metallic paint on that bumper!

Well......to jump on the band wagon...

We have a freetrack and yes the bumpers can scuff easily... but that picture of the above yellow freetrack doesnt do the colour justice... they are more grey than in that picture and when the light shines on them at the right angle they do look metallic. Plus if the guy is a painter and works for seat... so should have a decent idea !!?

Agreed, the bumpers are not the best, especially if you want to polish them?!!??? but to be fair.. I bloke bumped in to the front of ours while parking his Mercedes while I was still sitting in the car.... no marks on the bumper at all... and he caught the corner edge too, I was less than impressed but no marks made so.... what can you do?

But scratch resistant?... agreed not quite.... body coloured could have looked better but potentially more expensive to fix if scratched?? and not as rugged looking...

Maybe there are two types then?? Our 2009 car looks exactly the same as the one in the picture. Just rubber coated and no metallic sheen whatsoever.

Hey Jamborino, did you manage to get your Freetrack bumper fixed? I've had a call from the wife today to inform me that she has reversed into a post (with parking sensors?!?) and scuffed the bumper. I await with trepidation the extent of the damage.....:censored:
