Hi

Looking at getting a slightly used 1.2 tsi SE this week. There are a number of them for sale that I have seen online. I notice the ones with tech pack understandably have a premium over the ones that dont have tech pack but the dealer I have been speaking to tells me Seat have been giving the tech pack free with new orders and sometimes its been at a discounted price of around £500.
The cars the dealer has shown me have atleast 1k price difference between cars that have tech pack and those that dont.
So is it worth paying 1k extra for tech pack on a used car when new its been free or £500. Will tech pack cars carry a 1k premium on a 2,3 year old car as well? Im asking only from a resale point of view as I dont really require the tech pack

Thanks for your help

The tech pack has been free for about 18 months now if I remember correctly - only the very early models and those bought by fleets won't have it, so when you go to sell later on, it will be one of very few cars that doesn't have it fitted. I don't think it's worth a £1k premium on a used car though, considering that it probably wouldn't have originally cost the first owner anything.

Ordinarily an equipment pack wouldn't really affect the resale price too much, however those with the technology pack are registered as different models from the standard cars, so you should still see some return when you go to sell it.

I think its been 'free' on personal orders from July 2013. I ordered my car in May 2013 and it was reduced to £500 which had been the case since soon after the order books opened. Seat UK recouped that cost by raising the prices across the range anyway.

Yes I would think its worth it not just for resale but it'll benefit yourself for a bit. Unless your other options have things like DAB spec'd individually.

Thanks for the quick replies. I think the cars that have been shown might just be fleet cars as they are a high on mileage but the deal on offer is really good. Is there a negative in buying a used fleet car?
Basically the car is for commuting from uni to home on weekends only for the next 2 years so mileage I suppose I would be able to average down and if I can save 1k for not having a tech pack then thats fine by me but if it means I can get that 1k back in 2 years time then I might have to look at one with the tech pack

Thanks

id get the tech pack personally, the nav, music streaming, hands free are worthwhile features just as the led lights are as well
