I am wanting to change the bulbs in my mk2 leon.
I'm not interested in a Xenon conversion kit etc. id prefer to just fit a white bulb if possible.

Can anybody suggest any bulbs, and whether they would bring up any errors?
Also can they be bought form somewhere like halfords.

Thanks

I was searching through here the other day for the some thing. I believe the Phillips x-treme H7 and H1 bulbs might be what you're after.

That's what I saw but I'm not very good with cars and dont' know if they're correct.

I say check out the Osram Nightbreaker Plus Range as they are bright and look great without the need for a HID kit which blinds others

Yeah, I think the link I showed gives him the Osram nightbreakers as an option for something.

I was considering changing mine, but didn't know how tricky they were to change on the Leon.

On my Corsa they used to take half an hour per bulb and involved taking the front bumper off..

Thats long lol, On the Leon the bulbs dont take long about 20mins I would guess but the space is very tight only downside. The fogs are a bit of a pain tho tbh

Aye, I'll give it a go. I'm assuming the way in the book is the correct way?

On my Corsa, the way the book showed was impossible, and the dealers admitted to it and showed me the correct way.

Yh the book is correct, remove the cap, release the clip, pull the wires off, turn it about 90 degrees ish and then pull it out. Should be a doddle mate

You'll never get that nice white 6000k HID look with bulbs, but I find the closest thing are MTEC cosmo blue bulbs, terrible for lighting up the road though, so I wouldn't recommend them in anything other than dipped beam.

I use osram night breakers as my main, they're very close to pure white but still look some what yellow ish IMO especially beside my LED sidelights.

My friend uses the Philips extreme vision bulbs with the blue tint and I've also though these give a good HID look. But you'll still always know they're only bulbs when a HID car pulls up.

thanks guys. I like the look of the osram nightbreakers. I think ill invest in some.
Are there any places you can go and buy them from, or do they have to be bought online?

Also am i correct in thinking that the dipped beam bulbs are the H7?
And if i am changing my dipped beams, do the full beams need to be changed as well?

Sorry for all of the questions, im quite new to the bulb scene.

Thanks.

I also have osram nightbreaker plus bulbs, far superior to the standard ones and a doddle to fit too!

I bought them off ebay for £12.50 with a free led torch too. Bargain!

I do agree though, they do still look yellowish next to my bright white led sidelight bulbs, however if you have the standard sidelight bulbs in they will look xenon like!

These are the ones I got and no issues whatsoever, these are a lovely pure white.

If you want more a subtle bulb tint, use these. Also had no problems with these, and I'm now using them in my interior.

Just remember to follow this procedure
One Led at a time.
Connect one, insert keys and turn to first position, then turn on sidelights.
If it doesn't light up, turn the led round, then repeat again.
If it works move onto the next one and do the same again

Depending on whether your mk2 is a FL(2010-) the leds poseted before may not work, by not working i mean give an error. The 2nd link, to we sell hids, them bulbs did not work in my fl leon, ive sent them back and they still have no refunded me, 2 weeks after i sent them! Not impressed with that company, if yours is an fl then i'll post the link up to the ones i have that work fine in my 2010 1.2TSi

I've tried a handful of HID sidelights. They look great around dawn & dusk with their clean crisp light, but at night, they all have a noticable Blue tinge - not the pure White I'm looking for.

Also running dipped Nightbreaker. They are certainly alot brighter than standard bulbs which is great, mine still appear with a slight yellow tinge ???, so look original.

Im also looking at changing the interior bulbs for less. Looking at the front interiors, it seems there are 2 501 bulbs and another. Can anybody tell me what type this bulb is?

I'm going to get the nightbreakers myself.

Is it worth changing the sidelight bulbs as well, or just leave those?

Also, does anyone have any instructions for changing fog light bulbs, as they don't appear to be in the book..
