Hi,

Someones clipped my wing mirror and its now "loose". How do i go about getting in to try and tighten it back up?

Is there a way of doing it by just removing the mirror and covers on the outside or is it a case of having to take the whole door pannel off?

Thanks for the help.

Someone on here stated they managed it only by removing the Speaker from the door.
Then getting a VERY LONG socket extension and routing it right up the inside of the door trim, to the Bolt!

I've had the door trim off to replace the passenger wing mirror unit. Its not the most pleasant job to do!  . The electric window guides/mechanism come apart too.

To save you some time, theres some horizontal metal clips on the back of the door trim - you can grind these off, or bent them up so their vertical, as they were only used when the door was being fitted together at the factory (to make their job easier).

Otherwise you'll find it virtually impossible putting the door trim back on, into the window mechanism, with these left intact/horizontal, as they just get in the way!

Good luck! ;)

I did mine by removing the speaker and then using a combination of small arms and tools to tighten up the bolt on the Wing Mirror. It worked for me and has stayed tight for weeks now...

when my old one was loose, took it to Seat as it was under warranty and the mechanic went through the door speaker, took him literally 5mins if you dont wanna do it yourself

Ditto what GrahamFR said above.

Local dealer did both mine on the old Cupra in a matter of 5 mins each (on separate occasions) through the speaker orifice. Such a common occurence the mechanic has it off to a T - with a long socket extension :)

Bet you were having a good stare, weren't you, while he went through the (in your own word) "orifice" !? Bet you asked for a go too?

Great for a LOOSE mirror, but when you have to replace the complete mirror unit + disconnect the power loom, then connect the power loom to the new mirror unit (for the electric functions), the whole door trim has to come off, to do the electrical part.

So did you get that Kevcelt ? It's a 5 minute job, confirmed by many members here.
Plus you can take it through the orifice...... apparently! ;)

Very intersting!
Thanx for the heads up, I'll keep that in mind when replacing the door mirror.

Door mirror tighten

This is really easy. I have just completed this after someone on a car park must have hit my drivers side wing mirror which loosened it slightly. I have never done this before and it took 15 minutes. Remove the door speaker cover. Remove the 4 screws holding the speaker in place. Disconnect the speaker and start to use a spanner to move up the door and find the nut. I was surprised how easy this was
