SEAT UK to make BTCC Leon's available to customer teams

Autosport have reported that the SEAT Sport Leon's could run on a customer basis for the first time in the British Touring Car Championship next year after SEAT Sport UK confirmed that their two cars will be put up for sale in the near future.

Thats a result, what with Air Cool running a Leon, Team CVR hopefully running 2, BTC might drag the Toledo out again, then if some other Independent snaps up the 2 TDi Leons, that would be a great showing next year by the big silver S badge.

BTC Racing have said they are looking at the possibility of Leon's no word of whether they would want petrol or diesel. However as always in this game the finances are not yet in place to make it a reality, they will need more backers.

When you think that they struggled to resolve the gremlins I'd doubt people would be queueing up to buy them. Also they come with the side effects of heavy tyre wear, understeer and the need for gear change lights as you can't hear the car revving.

Whilst the diesels are a great way for a manufacturer to prove a point, I just hope the privateers think they are worth the punt as I'd love nothing more to have SEAT's back on the front end of the grid.

The Jordans are also evaluating their entry for next year too. Mike is looking for a front running S2000 car to aid Andrew towards fighting for an outright championship win.

Front running S2000 car winning the WTCC and leading the championship is the diesel Leon.

Andrew pretty much said that his dad was retiring and would be manager on sunday.i think the lad has a promising future.19 and on pole,and giving as good as he got from some of the more experienced field.
Let's just hope he doesn't become the next "daddies little soldier"

Slight update on this article, we've pulled it off the main site for now.

Apparently SEAT were slightly misquoted regarding the BTCC cars. The cars as rolling chassis' are expected to be made available to customer teams but not the diesel engines. Whether they will be supplied with alternative petrol power plants or just as rolling chassis is as yet unknown.

But SEAT will no doubt clarify this in due course. But to reiterate the cars are for sale but the diesel engines are not.
