Side skirts and rear spoiler dealer fitted quote

Hi all,

Considering getting a Mk5 Ibiza Cupra, but I like the look of it with the rear spoiler and side skirts.

I've been quoted £300 and £500 respectively, painted and fitted including VAT from my local dealer.

Looking online, I've seen them for £130 and £175 including VAT respectively, but without paint or fitting service.

I've not looked at bodyshop prices in my area to paint and fit. For those that have had these painted and fitted at a non-dealer bodyshop, is the dealer price above an outrageous asking price, or is about right do you think?

If I can get it all done at the same time at source, it makes sense to me to do it. But not if I'm having my pants pulled down over the price.

Thanks guys, appreciate your advice.

depends.

honestly yes and no.

personally id get it done by an independent sprayer that im fimiliar with(AB panel craft) as they did my mk3 cupra when that had a side impact, and they did an awesome job.

but dealer price? no idea .

bite the bullet and get done by the stealer.Got my daytime running lights and rear parking sensors done at pentagon seat, colour coded too.
Unless you need to penny pinch that is.
Dealers are a bit on the expensive side though,I just thought what the heck as I wanted it done before I took car home.

Above post is right. When I got the spoiler and side skirts for my fr the dealer arranged everything but the price for painting and fitting came from the bookshop. I paid roughly the same as what you're being quoted.

I got my skirts (purchased off ebay for not much money at all) sprayed and fitted for £200, non-dealer
spoiler (another ebay bargain) was about £60 sprayed, fitted it myself.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

In the end I found a white 61 Cupra I liked with low miles, was able to bring the dealer down to a price within my budget that allowed me to have the addon's done as well. Paid as quoted above, probably paid a little over for them rather than doing it after buying the car, but like Alan H, I get to drive it away in a couple of weeks all done.

Can't wait to pick it up. Had a fantastic test drive. Only 10K on the clock, one owner who bought and serviced the car at the same dealer that sold to me, and an engine bay you could eat your dinner off! :)

Hardest part now will be resisting a remap while it still has a years manufacturer warranty.

  • Is it worth tempting fate doing a remap this early on?
  • Will the 30ps or so extra be obviously noticeable?
  • Are engine failures hugely common after remaps or is it down to poor maps etc.?

Thanks again guys... nice to be officially in the club. :)

I recommend going Apr if you get it remapped. Depending on what engine code you have, will determine the likelihood of failures. I advise you enjoy the car and put it through its paces as much as you can. Alot of people are to scared of giving it some incase they get problems, but then they are just delaying a potentially inevitable problem. So just enjoy her but if you ignore everything else I say, check your oil at least weekly, because they drink it out of nowhere at Times
