Anyone else having slipping clutch problems?

I have my Ibiza custom coded, no idea on HP and Torque but prob 280ft/lb+ I guess.

I have noticed clutch slip in 4th 5th and 6th gears even when in the 'correct' gear.

How long is my clutch likely to last? 26,000 miles so far, only 500 or so with remap.

Anyone have any idea on how much a new clutch is? and what about a stronger one?

Being a bit nieve (spelling?) how long should a good clutch last? Will spending £700 last me many years. I know it will dend on driving style, I tend to drive 50/50 lots of time gently and then I do like to utilise the power for fun too.

How much of the £700 is for the clutch and how much for the fitting?

I know I should talk to JBS, might just do that :)

To give you an idea, I owned a 1.4 106 before my Ibiza. I bought it "nearly new", so I'm 99.9% certain it had the original clutch. When I traded it in, it had 96,000 miles on the clock - still with the original clutch. I'm an enthusiastic driver and I also live in a London suburb and get stuck in my fair share of traffic jams, so clutches really can last a long time even with strenuous usage. Having said that, the amount of torque going through your clutch (I'm guessing yours is a PD130?) is somewhat more than my old 1.4 106. But I would still expect a clutch to last at least 60,000 miles.

To be fair, your clutch is not slipping because it's worn out - but because your engine is now exceeding the torque that the clutch was designed to cope with.

When I get mine CC'd I will go for the uprated clutch as soon as I start getting any slippage. To me, the slippage would be too annoying - one of the reasons I bought a diesel was for the huge amount of instantly accessible torque, and I don't want to lose that because of a slipping clutch.

The kit with the Clutch Disc/Clutch Cover/Release Bearing is Around £450

My clutch was fine with Revo but when the Miltek went on it started slipping the same day

They dont have a release bearing, its a consentric slave cylinder, with the release bearing built into it. Have a talk with JBS. If irc, the price for the uprated clutch from JBS is about £500 then £211 for fitting.

I got quoted £750 inc. VAT & Fitting,

To be honest,

Mine will slip if i boot it in 4th or 5th or 6th at low revs, but if i drive properly and only accelerate hard when above 2.5k revs then the clutch is fine, The cold weather doesn't help but try not to use the accelerator as an On/Off switch!!!!!

Have you had ur clutch upgraded and still slip? or are you on the standard clutch?

If I floor it 1 st 2nd 3rd, on the change to 4th full trottle the clutch slips quiet bad. I have also noticed it at other times... is starting to anoy me

I'm a bit (nah I am rather a perfectionist.... and I shall have to get something done) don't get me wrong it's fine for normal driving, even a little sprint to 60-70 but at the higher speeds 70+ when you want to show some other car what a bit of torque can do you are left slipping!!!

These people specialize in tuning PD TDI cars and are experts in what they do. You could also get a reamp and turbo upgrade while your there if you want. ;)
Yeah, just dont buy a second hand hybrid turbo though, as they go bang

My Audi is still beeing worked on but at least i am getting the milltek exhaust and rear bumper valance fitted at the same time for free. As for turbos going to try several different ones with different maps and see what works best. Hope to get the propane injection fitted ASAP when i get the car back.

Nah, im still on the standard clutch,

if you want to show off your torque then drop it a cog instead of booting it at under 2k,

It slips further up the rev range than that, around 3K in 4th... gonna get a new clutch. Allard has given me a good quote so well happy!
