Someone out there must know the answer to this problem? I have a jurky engine between about 3500rpm and 5000 rpm in 3rd gear and up? i have looked on here for some answers gut no joy yet. I was reading the fluttering boost thread and thought that sounded like my car but now im not sure? I have had a new DV and N75j which for a few days seems to work but now its back. It feels like the engine is sticking, it feels jurky in the rev range i said, then you get through it and its ok. I had it on a rolling road and was told"oh its doing strange things" that is when i had the DV changed then a week later the N75 all seemed good but not for long. Everyone else who is having a similar problem i think has revo or some kind of remap. I had the revo trial but it made my car REALLY bad. It was jurking earlyer about 3000-3500rpm. I want the full revo but need this sorted first. What should be my next step? I dont mind spending money as long as the car gets fixed. PLEASE help!!

Do you know anybody locally with VAG-COM? If not, get a post up in the Help Requests section of the VAG-COM forum to see if somebody near by can help.

Then get some logs of actual Vs requested boost and get some MAF readings and you should be able to start to build a picture of what's going on.

so its worse when it was on the revo trial...

id say it may be a boost leak.
other possibilities are the maf.
could try dissconnecting this and see if the issue dissapears.
if you do this a light was come up on the dash, (lke if you turn off the traction control or esp)
it will then run using figures from a different sensor with slightly safer settings.
worth a go if you cant get easy access to vag com and want to see if its the maf.

I take it its safe to drive with the maf dissconnected? I will give it a go on my way to work tomorrow my drive is about 20mins, will this be ok?

yes the maf wires comes off the intake pipe 4" or so after the airbox.

yes its ok to drive with the maf dissconnected. (probably run slightly rich with safer settings. so wont do any harm, but not something to do permanently.)
20 mins drive is ok. easily.
it may be slightly slower. maybe not. seems to depend on the actual car...

boost leaks not so easy to find, but check all pipes for cracks/splits and that the circlips are not loose.

With the MAF unplugged you should notice the car is slower than normal, but it will be smoother too if the MAF is the cause of the problems.

Sometimes with a dead MAF the car feels faster.

My guess (especially with the jerkyness) is that you have some kind of ignition problem - either coilpack(s) or connections. It would be worth eliminating the MAF first, but do a visual check taht all the coilpacks are pushed onto the spark plugs properly.

If it's been doing it a while, it it's most likely got error codes logged. Are you anywhere near Clive Atthowe, they'll be able to read codes (and if you fancy a bit of Revo, will most likely help if they know they're going to get the business...)

one thing to check, i had a problem with a misfire on one cylinder,

turned out to be a very slightly loose plug.

When it came on boost it was popping the coilpack out the top of the engine and it was missing like crazy.

pop the plastic cover off and just check that the coilpacks are all seated right.

As well as that prob i had a faulty maf too which really put a spanner in the works as it still ran like crap with the maf unplugged.

Right i have had a drive with the maf unpluged and i THINK its seem ok?? The car is much smoother but feels slower, but when i slow down to stop at lights, junction it almost cuts out? The tick over before had a bit of a jump but now its smooth. The thing is every time i think its sorted a few days on and its back again. Its been at clive atthowe and all he found was DV so had a new one fitted. So what you all think shall i get a new MAF? Where can i get one form and how much am i looking at? All the plugs have been checked at the last service and had another engine diagnostic no error found. Thanks for all the replys!!
