Earlier this week I had a guy from the a mobile valet company at my door asking if they could wash my car. I kindly declined and off he went door to door round the street.

Today I watched said mobile valet come round and clean (read "scratch") all of my neighbours cars.

Now Im new to this detailing malarky but this does not seem right to me...

- Spray with water (out of a squirty bottle!)
- Scrub whole car with long brush (which kept on being put on the floor), dipping infrequently in a bucket of soapy water
- Spray with pressure washer to rinse (nozzle max 20cm away from car surfaces)
- Wipe down with silicone blade
- Remove residual dirt patches by rubbing like hell with damp cloth

I am so pleased I said "No Thanks!" :D

it sounds stupid but i never trust anyone cleaning my car... even pro detailers i have paid to clean my car.. i still wince and go ohh and errr lol

people who offer these 'cleaning' services should be shot. so many in tesco's i have seen shammy a half clean wheel, drop the cloth on the floor, then pick it up and start rubbing the doors and roofs:headhurt:

My current car (56 plate Mondeo Titanium X) is a company car and even that has never been near a car wash, mobile valeter etc.

I do it myself with the right kit and methods and if i dont have time every week, it stays dirty until i do.

Its nearly 3 years old now and has been machine polished twice (by me) and even though there are some very light / small swirls on the paint, even when it is dirty you can still see how clear the paint surface is underneath.

Then again, i do suffer from OCD... Obsessive Car Detailing
