Had my tracking redone after getting the car dropped yesterday and the steering wheel is slightly dropped to the left when the car is straight... is this caused by anything in particular ? Don't want the garage fobbing me off when I go back at half 4 ?! I'm assuming the wheel wasn't held in place when the tracking was done or something similar ?

Ta :)

That sounds about right, take it back and demand they set it up correctly [sound like they could not be bothered to adjust BOTH sides == of the track rods arms and have taken ALL the adjustment from one side!!]

I would say that your assumption is correct. There are a few other things that could cause it to a small degree, odd tyre wear for one, but it will only be slight. If the car is much lower one side than the other then you could get this as well, but again that would be a trip back to the fitter to see what went wrong.

Everytime I have had a car tracked properly the wheel has been straight.

Was the tracking done straight after the lowering? If so it may be that the suspension wasn't settled properly when it was tracked, and needs re-doing. A lot of places won't track until the car has been driven a bit to settle things.

Yeah it was done straight away mate...

I've done another 15 miles or so since then... the car's only covered 2700 miles so can't imagine the tyre wear being an issue.

Hopefully they will figure it out, felt a bit weird driving left hand down in a straight line !

I'd get it back to them then. ideally you wanna do a few more miles to settle it, but you don't want to give them the chance to say you've hit a pot-hole or something.

The place I used for my MX-5 would re-adjust for free after a week or two. As it was a couple of hour drive I didn't go back, and the wheel sits maybe a degree 2 off centre, but not enough to worry about.

I'd make sure you have a proper laser 4-wheel alignment, it will make all the difference and a straight steering wheel is covered under ths service.

This is piece of mine the car is setup as per defined degrees and will handle better and prevent uneven tyre wear.

Maybe get the gargae that fitting it adjust steering wheel and re-check, then next month find a place that does a proper 4-wheel alignment for added security
