ok ive fitted a headunit under my steering wheel, by scotch locking the wires off the back of the aircon/seat radio, is this the correct way to do it?
because it works for a bit but then the headunit under the steering wheel just cuts off and wont work.

then after this the seat radio only stops on for 10 seconds if the other headunit is plugged in. i need to remove the headunit to make the seat radio turn on and work

it must be shorting out somewhere?

what have others done? and what can i do?
also what happens if you acidentalty turn on the seat radio and other headunit on at same time?

thanks!

i hope you havent got both headunits connected to the speakers?!?!?!

for a start - do NOT use scotchlocks - they are cowboy connections and more often than not, do not last over time or never really give a proper connection

best thing you can do is make your own loom for your aftermarket headunit. the loom will need to run speaker and power wiring from under the steering wheel, up to in behind your Seat unit. The speaker connections are simple - just wire them into an ISO plug and plug it straight into the standard ISO plug in your car wiring loom. The power is more difficult as the power supply to the Seat headunit, I believe, also powers the aircon controls and screen. So, these need to be tapped into. The best way to do this is by building a male and a female ISO power plug onto the end of your custom loom. This way the power will go to your Seat headunit and your aftermarket headunit.

As for connections, try to twist the wires together and then solder them, followed by some heatshrink tubing over the joint. If this is too much for you to stretch to then bullet connectors and a good quality crimping tool will do.

If you want a diagram of the custom loom that I described then let me know and I'll try and draw one up for you

Another way is to either run a direct live off the battery, or a live from you a cig lighter tray,it also carries an earth. I wouldn't recommend touching the standard hu loom.
