Hi, just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. Got a 2010 1.6Tdi Altea XL Ecomotive, 62,000 miles. It is only just due a service.

Everything is working as it should, but today a funny problem started with the "Start/Stop" system (which normally is fine).

Basically the switch used to turn off the START/STOP system is not working. From this morning the switch is permanently lit up, meaning the system is turned off. It will not respond at all and as such the START/STOP system is not working.

I have tried holding the button down for a while, but nothing changes.

There are no warning lights on the dash and everything else is working fine.

The only thing I can think is that yesterday I jet washed the car in the evening and then it was very cold in the night. Is it possible that water has got in somewhere (I have heard that 1.6Tdi's have an issue with poorly sealed ECU's) and not dried out due to the cold (and also possibly frozen)?

I have taken the car for a decent spin, thinking along the lines that it could be a DPF or low battery thing, but the situation is the same.

Has anyone any ideas?
