Hello All,
This post relates to a MK 3 Toledo and I've posted on that forum to, but I'm guessing the part in question is the same on the Altea hence my posting here also.
I closed the tailgate on my car today and noticed that it did not make the normal sound. I discovered that the receiver in the lock mechanism is not engaging properly with the latch. The result is that even when the car is centrally locked, I can put my finger into the seam under the tailgate and just lift the it open. I removed the lock mechanism and had a look. As far as I'm aware, when you push the receiver right in, it should stay in. However it just springs back out when I let go of it. So far I've not found a a way to get inside the lock mechanism to see whats wrong. It seems to be a sealed unit. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it without buying a new lock mechanism?
