hi guys.. im new to this forum at the moment own a chiped octavia vrs but am looking into getting leon mk1 but most likely a mk2 tdi which one would you say is the best engine to go for and for doing tune up bits too? would like to try and get same if not better performance than i drive now!!! can anyone help on issue..?
cheers:confused:

It depends what vRS you have, the 1.8T or the 2.0T? If you have the 1.8T then a PD150 with a hybrid turbo or a chipped PD170 should be on par with a chipped one but if you have a 2.0T chipped the TDI won't come close.

i have i mk1 1.8t chipped which is about 215-220bhp
just want somthing abit smaller and cheaper to run hence tdi plus love the stylingof the leon.. what can you get out of leon 170 plus chip and possible hybrid!! and are they still reliable!!!
cheers guys

Depends on lots of things as to what you can get.
£500 map
£1000 hybrid inc fitting
£500 decat and stainless
£100 improved intake system
Should get you somewhere around 230/240hp and still reliable at this.

ok thanks for that!! something to think about,,
are engine and gearbox reliable as have loads of issues on vrs?
also what sort of price on good clutch?
thanks again guys:D

gear box has been rebuilt twice, 1st gear went first time and last yeah rivets broke of diff too crown gear and smashed crown gear up not cheap!! only new cos speedo stoped working which upset engine management!! had new parts put in plus upgraded bolts insted of rivets. common fault on those gearboxes.

engine side pipes always braking engine somtime seems lumping and doesnt want to go then five mins later it flys and things changed and looked at but nothing found. hence why i want to change car!! sure mine was made on a friday afternoon lol
