I've used 99ron as well as other super plus petrol and I noticed no difference at all on my stage 1 LCR so I just stick to normal petrol.

I put v power in once a month, if you use it everyday it destroys ur cat and 02 sensors, if you have a decat on ur fine, I'm gonna try tesco 99 next time I fuel up see what it's like.

I'm afraid you've been mislead. A lower octane fuel will result in more retard due to knock control giving (generally) higher exhaust temperature which could cause the catalyst to suffer. Very difficult to kill an O2 sensor in this way.

Running 97/99 for a long time and then reverting to 95 may mean that your knock adaptions will cause some fairly large knock events at your first wide-open. This event can give elevated exhaust temps.

The best way to kill a cat (if your interested) is full-load to fuel-cut to full-load to fuel-cut etc. You'll have to repeat quite a few times but the excess fuel then excess air causes a tasty exotherm in the cat.

What on earth are you talking about!? V-Power does NOT destroy your catalytic converter or the Lambda sensors and is a far superior fuel to anything else for sale at UK pumps.

I have used V-Power in every turbo car I have ever owned for the last decade, including my current Leon which I have had for over 2 1/2 years..... and guess what? Not a single failed Lambda sensor or catalytic converter. My car also runs on Methanol, and I still haven't killed either.

If you can't get or won't pay for V-Power, then Tesco Momentum is the next best thing and is almost as good as V-Power in terms of knock resistance - I say this having data logged my car with VCDS and noted a clear difference in knock having tried a tank of Tesco 99

Used Tesco momentum in previous Mk2 LCR , covered 32k in 2½ years, no problems. Current Cupra also runs on momentum, 22k in 16 months, no problems either. Both cars are recommended to run on 97 octane or higher.

I'm not falling out with anyone, have I insulted you or resorted to name calling? No. Have I called you an idiot? No.

I simply asked you for links to what you are reading on the net which is informing you that high octane fuel is bad, or where it causes higher combustion temperatures. I asked for this as you stated you had read this.

I got involved because I disagree with your statements and fear that other people will stop using better quality fuels due to your statements, which simply aren't true.

No need to get worked up:)

who even asked you to jump on this thread anyway you don't belong hear and yes I do no the difference in fuel types

Am I allowed to comment BigJohn? Do I belong hear [sic]?

Running higher octane fuel will not damage your cat or lambda. You`re talking rubbish. Care to post a link to the stuff you`ve been reading?

What about the tesco 99 octane petrol? Any good?can anyone tell the difference?

Best wishes
Silva.

Hi, I use Tesco 99 because it's cheaper locally than V power for my LC.

If I remember correctly the owners manual specifies a higher octane than regular petrol in the UK to allow it to run at best efficiency. My perception is it's smoother running using higher octane, I can't detect any power difference and this may fit with ECU knock control etc.

My car is also 14 years old, who know's if there's any benefit overall. Pays your money etc.

Sorry lads got it the wrong way around, if ur car is high octane only then putting u
Standerd fuel in ur car will f,uck it, even that said, using V Power in ur car is good if you want empty pockets, like I said before I use it once a month, wouldn't waist my money, if I had a top end sports car then yeh defo use it, but I haven't.

No harm done :) At least we're all on the same page now. I'd recommend any turbocharged car be run on high octane fuel, especially tuned cars and those that are mapped specifically for high octane fuel

Will take a look at the other topic now

I run mine on momentum 99, purely because tesco is closer than shell and you get clubcard points :funk:, when having my car mapped at AMD they wanted to know the fuel it was run on before mapping it, so assume it makes a difference as to how they map the car.
