Thinking of buying a Ibiza Cupra. Need some advice. Also Cupra vs. VXR & GTI

First off Hi. :)

So I was just wondering what ownership is like? I.e. Fuel economy?

Also i've heard they drink oil? Is that true?

And how do they compare to the Polo GTI's? Is it worth the little extra and got to VW?

And finally how would they compare to a Corsa VXR? Anyone have any experiences? Or owned both?

I have driven both and prefered the Cupra but didn't get much time with the VXR.

Edit. Also the Cupra im looking at is an 11 plate with only 4k on the clock from a SEAT dealer too. Not sure what the deal is with the Bocanegra either?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about power but the polo gti runs the same engine as the Ibiza an Fabia vrs.
From what I have read they do use a bit of oil some worse than others

So I'd guess so does the polo being the same engine and all.

Corsa vxrs ain't that fast tobehonest my Cupra tdi ok stage one mapped but it out powers my mates Vxr corsa an he has an induction kit and straight through exhaust on his
So I'd recon the Ibiza Cupra should out power it but ain't certain

Yeah, on paper the GTI is just a little better than the Cupra in everything.

Until you get to the price.

Corsa vxr? No chance of catchingup with a cupra until higher speeds. And if its a mapped cupra? Bye bye vxr lol

Source: lots of first hand evidence ;) mates got a vxr

yeah that's the problem, the GTI's are quite abit more.

And for the same price as the Cupra i've found it has done 5x the miles.

Ive recently got my cupra and ive heard they do use a little bit of oil although i havnt noticed any oil usage as yet ,also i think they had it fixed by 11 plate. As for fuel and stuff i get 35 mpg in stop and start town traffic and thats with having a bit of fun :p. Also polos are so boring to look at and vxr's are so stupidly chavy and common.

It's all down to personal preference mate. If u like the gti then save up a bit more and go for one. I'm going to pick up my cupra next week. It's a 60 plate not an 11 plate but hopefully I don't get a lot of problems with it. It will still be under warranty for a while anyway

I ideally wanted a VXR Nurburgring, I think they are lush but the insurance is atrocious.

I like the Cupra but really wanted to know if the GTI is worth the extra money?

For me the Cupra offers better value than the GTI, its a fair bit more for not much really, interior isnt massivly better, neither is the engine, brakes, handling so for me cupra.

VXR's are overrated, my mate said the Nurburgring one is the best out of the lot but still expensive to run and insure, plus corsa's are the bane of my life, i never go more than 2 miles without seeing 5 near me, plastic on wheels.

The engine/brakes/handling will be no different to a cupra.

Me and 4 mates went out for a really long blast( love beeing 30mins-1hr from some epic driving roads. (<3 north yorkshire) constanltly on it round country roads yesterday(made me want an intercooler now with the heat soak, mind you i was smashing the poor thing for about 5hours straight!) but the Corsa on the straights wouldnt keep up (okay so mine is mapped) as much as he keeps saying it will.. yawn. Nice looking car, certianly looks the part. But my two other mates we drove up with (1.6 saxo and a 1.6 suzuki swift) wernt that impressed with its power either.

I think i'm defo gonna gof or the cupra.

At first I didn't like the look of it but it has grown on me a lot and i've seen some after market alloys that really give it an aggressive look.

Any idea on spoilers available and other alloy companies worth checking out?

Yeah, on paper the GTI is just a little better than the Cupra in everything.

Now theres a surprise !! - VAG marketing department making the Polo look better than the same chassis made by Seat or Skoda - how else could they justify the price premium of the Polo.

If you think the Cupra is good value, then look at the Fabia, with the tax free deal, its almost 3 grand cheaper again!!

Plus everyone knows cupras are for girls, fabias are for men :p

No way!

The Fabia's look **** and Skoda are a boring brand. I like a car that makes me feel good and im proud to look at.

That's what drew me to the VXR's, Corsa VXR Burg in orange:cry:

The GTI and Cupra are both smart inside and out and with good alloys really look the part.

I will never own a Skoda.
