Hey guys,

I just picked up my brand new 12 plate Ibiza 1.4 16v Sportrider on Tuesday. Since then I have been looking for good forums to join, and decided this looks like a good one.

I also have a question, does anyone no what I am doing wrong when trying to pair my Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (playstation phone) to my car? I've been trying since Tuesday and not managed yet! I understand that once I have turned my ignition on, IO have 3 minutes to connect my phone. I turn ignition on, go onto my phone and set it to discoverable, which it only stays on that for 120 seconds, then I scan for devices, find "SEAT_BT" which has a headset symbol next to it, click it to pair and it says "There was a problem pairing SEAT_BT".

It says this every time, I've no idea what I'm doing wrong! I've looked at my Bluetooth settings on my phone and all I have is "Bluetooth on/off", "device name", "discoverable" and "scan for devices". I obviously have it turned on, and set t discoverable, when trying.

The only thing I can think of is that I have been trying it with a "device name" with a space in it i.e. "xperia play" and perhaps that's causing error? I have now removed the space but can't try it till i get back to my car after work.

Anyone think that could be it or have any other ideas?

Many Thanks for any help.
Dave

Bluetooth pairing on an Android phone is not quite as straightforward as some other phones. Took me a while to work it out for my Galaxy S2 and my wifes Xperia Ray.

Try turning the visibility on under the blue tooth settings in the phone and then doing a new search via the cars mfd. That should get it to work.

Cheers for the replies lads!

I have looked at the link secret squirrel and will keep an eye on that thread.

I tried having a go last night and having the phone on discoverable when i turned the ignition on, but still nothing. I also tried my girlfriends blackberry, which worked first time!

Can I ask what you mean by the cars MFD jezyg?

Cheers

The display that shows you all the info such as time/date temp fuel consumption ect in between the rev counter and speedo. Once the phone is on discovarable the car needs to do a search for it so it can pair it.

Ok, I know what you mean now and know where to look now.

So how do I get the car to do a search for it?

I am not 100% sure on the Ibiza as I have a Leon. But you cycle through the menu via the stalk controls until you get to the "Phone" menu, then select "settings" and "search" Instructions should also be in the bluetooth instruction book which is part of your book pack that came with the car.

Welcome to the forum.

If I recall correctly depending on the android version make sure that the phone screen stays awake after turning on BT. Keep a careful eye on the status bar at the top of the android screen, something may pop up there that may signal that you need to insert the password (something like 1234) keeping the screen awake (and an eye on that status bar) you should get another prompt to allow the car to read the address book. I have a Galaxy S2 that seems to work fine with the car.

I had the same problem. Set the PIN code (1234 by default) to 0000. Xperia Play try automatically with 0000.
