Hi all,

Had the cupra remap'd today at R-TECH, Made 298/306 on the stage one which im happy with.

Noticed on the way home though I get turbo flutter between about 3k and 4k rpm whilst im accelerating.

I did call back R-TECH and they said it was totally normal on my engine but just seems weird to me to have flutter whilst on boost?

Iv got a revo intake on it so you can hear it well so can post up a vid if needed?

It's surge. Can't really be helped on a K04 without sacrificing a lot of power in that rpm range.

Look on YouTube at mapped K04 tfsi's with intakes and they all make that sound.

Flutter when changing at low rpm would be acceptable but on boost is turbo surge and is dangerous limiting the turbo to a short life. Upgrade the diverter valve to see if that helps mate otherwise it's going to un balance the turbo internals and destroy it. Search supra turbo surge YouTube. Gives an idea of what it's like

Changing the diverter valve will have absolutely no effect to a turbo surging under load/full throttle.

These turbos seem to fair pretty well. Wouldn't worry about it

Was just gonna say I had the dv changed to the one they told me to. Plus pretty much all the remapped ones iv seen or heard either myself or in videos do it.

I know it's not good for some turbos, the older versions of the vf series in subarus don't like it but the td series will run it fine.

I would have thought r-tech would have said if it was going to be doing damage and told me to change something as well.

Surge is common on the TFSi K04 cars..
the 2283 comp wheel is prone to this, more so with free flowing intake

It can be managed with vvt manipulation and boost progression, but until past 4krpm the engine is not able to injest the produced airflow and surge is the outcome. It is not healthy for the turbo, as these are peak loads on the comp wheel and shaft. Not yet heard of a failure due to this but something to be aware of.
