i have a leon mk1 pd150 and am being told that my turbo viens are clogged and that i need to remove it to clean them out. anyone give me some pointers on how to remove it?

also been told that removal of the down pipe will most like be a right pain are you able to remove the turbo with the down pipe still attached to then split off after when you have more room etc??

I haven't done it on a pd engine, no don't switch off, but I'd imagine it would be easier to get out of the space behind the engine without a downpipe connected.

Turbo removal involes the disconnection of vaccum lines, charge inlet pipes. intake manifolds downpipes. This may include removing the airbox also.

As I say, I never done it on a pd engine.

its not too hard if you know what you're doing with a spanner... i've just replaced my pd150 turbo and 3 weeks ago removed my brother's and cleaned it with inotec due to sticky vains (bora pd130)

tricky bits are:

1. taking EGR valve off (good time to blank it off...)
2. removing circlip from the big black plastic inlet pipe
3. oil feed pipe on top of turbo, mine kinked and broke which i hear is really common but my brothers came off fine.

i removed my rocker cover too as it is hard to wriggle it out without doing so

Depending on where you are theres a place in Bradford that will do it. Isnt as expesinve as you think plus you dont have to take off the turbo like most places.
