it allows the engine to run even though you've left and locked your car, if anyone tried to drive it away it would just stall......its designed to allow the oil chance to cool down so that it doesnt stick to the critical parts of the turbo,

when the engine is turned off without a timer, the oil pump cant work anymore and obviously cuts the supply of oil to the turbo although the turbo will still be spinning for a period. You dont want really hot oil staying around the bearings of the turbo because long term it wont do it any good.

Most people just leave they're car to run for a couple of minutes before turning the engine off but i think they're a good idea as long as they dont interfere with anything else.

you dont need them on the ibiza iirc as there watercooled turbo's only get one if your running a big turbo without the water jacket

yeah but it still has oil feeding into it, my old rs turbo was water cooled aswell so its been around for ages.....the oil will still bake onto the bearings if you dont let it cool properly after a hard drive.

The reason why I don't think the Ibiza needs one is because when you are driving up your drive or in the car park your not going to be driving on boost. Therefore the oil will move out and the turbo will cool down.

I think they may interfer with the locking system or throw a code for the immobilizer but can't remember and am not 100% sure.

Also...how many of you would walk away from your car with the engine running, regardless of if the doors were locked or not. I know I wouldn't and if I'm going to stand there I might as well be in the car sat down and comfy

Don't get me wrong...I think these products are brilliant...I just can't see the justification in spending £££ for a good one when I can do the same thing by sitting in the car for a couple of extra minutes and spend the money on something else

That's my 2pence worth anyway

huh? the oil move out? and leave the turbo dry?

There is a constant supply of oil to the turbo when the engine is running regardless of wether your on boost or not. The supply of oil will still be going to the turbo even when your sat in the car waiting for it to get cooler.

The idea of the engine running wether your sat in it or have a timer onboard is to allow the oil to cool so it doesnt cook onto your turbo's vital organs, after a coulple of minutes running, the oil should be alot cooler so therefore you are out of the danger zone.

lol sorry I was only half concentrating on typing that as am at work at the same time and was on the phone...it made sense in my head as I typed it.

What I meant to say is infact what gavthelad said..leaving it for the oil to cool down...not move out

I apologise for the mixup
