I fitted the Forge Twintake a few weeks back and it's a awesome bit of kit, lovely sound. However, I didn't fit the supplied heat shield as I didn't have a deep 24mm 12 point socket, and the one I did have was to shallow to undo the engine mounts...

Now, I was going to remove it and add the shield this weekend however I was wondering if anyone else has used heat reflective tape/wrap on the intake instead? I know it's used in motor sport all over the shop but will it be as effective on the intake as the heat shield, or more so?

My Twintake never came with the heatshield and when I looked into it on the Forge website, it says the Leon kit doesn't come with it, only the Golfs.

It does now.

I think that's referring to the FL engines in the Leon, but may be incorrect. Best ask forge.

Just had a reply from Forge and they say the heatshield isn't supplied with the Leon kit so how as everyone else got it but I havn't?

We are on about the FL Cupra Twintake?

They did offer it me for £15 but wasn't sure if it would fit? Why wouldn't it, it fits the S3 and Golf?

I have the forge heatschield and it prevents the maf being fried by the rising heat.
You don't need a 24 mm socket. simply put the heatschield over the black fittings of the air filter cover and then punt the rubber holders back on, works perfect.

Furthermore you can wrap exhaust nomex around the pipe or glue gold coated foil around it.

Didn't think of that - the one time I've ever decided to follow instructions to the letter!

I've got some heat wrap so will give it a go.
