Hi Guys,

We now have 2 Alteas in the household! I got a LHD from Germany as we are going to live in Portugal. 2 questions:

1 - the LHD came with 17' factory wheels but the pressure indicated on the fuel flap is the same as my wife's car on 16' wheels (2.4 bars front and 2.2 bars rear) - is that normal or should the presure be different

2 - the car also comes with tyre pressure monitoring. How does that work (my instructions are in German...) - do I press the button for a few seconds to set the pressure when I know it's correct?

Thanks everyone

Nick

In reply I would say that

1. If the sticker inside the fuel cap has your exact tyre size on it then it is OK, otherwise I would check it out.

2 Press the button and a light will illuminate on the dashboard and then a bleep will sound to sa that the new pressures have been logged,

Thanks - there is no specified tyre size on the sticker, hence me trying to check here.
Thanks a lot for the info though and for letting me know about tyre pressure.
Cheers bobbycfc

Generally speaking the lower profile tyre should have a higher pressure. As for the tyre pressure monitor it doesn't actually monitor the pressure, it measures the rolling circumference of each wheel and if the pressure drops in one of the tyres the circumference will change hence alerting you to a possible puncture. When you press the button you are zeroing the readings this should be done after every time you have pumped the tyres up.

My FR (rollin' on17's) is 35psi at the front and 32 at the rear. Add 1 psi if you've got extra people in.

Thanks. Amusingly though, the sticker on my wife's 1.6 on 16" is the same as the sticker on the 17"FSI that you posted, which shows higher pressures than on the 16" equipped TDI sticker that you posted, which makes no sense whatsoever as, if anything, the TDI on 16" is heavier than the 1.6 on 16"...

Hobbits picture is the same car/wheels as mine,

Yet when the dealer got me a new sticker for my car using the chassis number to order it, the sticker had different pressures from Hobbits!!! 35PSI fronts and 32 rears unlaiden. I'm sticking to what's on my new sticker...lots of sticking going on here sorry.

Wonder if you could blag an English manual from a dealer over here. Part no. is 5p0012003R on the back of mine. 2005 1.9TDI.

Cheers.

hi guys,

maybe confusion will even be at a higher level, when taking into account, that usually each and every tyre manufacturer should publish their own suggested reference value for specific tyre model & car.

Haven't seen one for my combination yet, but I'm pretty sure, that those will differ as well a little from the more or less "unisexed" ;) global values printed on SEAT stickers.

greets ... Klaus

Thanks Klaus. I bought the car in Brandebourg near Berlin. It's a Sport up 105TDI with satnav. Paid 16,000 euros for 1 year old / 22,000km car. It was truly immaculate (and I thought I was a fussy detailler...).
