I wish I'd realised when I bought it that one of the 'advantages' of the Sports Coupe 3dr is that it has ridiculously wide tyres (215/45R16). They look great but are a bit more expensive than normal tyres.

I've just fitted a pair of GY EfficientGrip Performance which were £92 each. Got Dunlop SP Maxx on the rear which were a bit cheaper and are lasting really well.

What tyres are other SC drivers using?

What engine you got, we have same tyres on our 1.2 FR which need replacing soon, looked at goodyear but the only come in H rated, not V which we have.
Going for Dunlop fastresponse which are the original tyres & perform well, cost £88 from blackcircles & clubcard points to !

1.6 tdi and they're H rated.

Clubcard points from black circles makes buying tyres slightly less painful!

Our Ibiza also came with 215/45 16" and due to the limited production of sports tyres in this size, it now runs on 205/45 16", which are within the 3% rolling circumference that you need to be within to stay within the law..

I'm on 215/40-17's. PZero Nero and Michelin PS3's for me. Goodyear F1 GSD3's also good. I got 18K miles from the Pirellis on the front.

possibly,

The PS3's have the better/sharper turn in compared to the other 2.
The Pirellis are better at dealing with standing water than the other 2. IMO.

Anyhoos, I'm happy to run any of the 3 compared to budget ditchfinder crap.

Although not an SC, my 1.2 FR DSG has logged 31,300 on original Bridgestone Turanza ER300s. Front are just under 3mm and rears are on 5 despite spirited driving. I think ER300s are being phased out now. Having first winter tyres on next week but tempted by 2 more ER300s in spring to replace fronts which I'll ditch, assuming they're still available.

The Good Years I had on previously had done 25,000 miles and still had 3mm on them. Only decided to change them because of the time of year, if it had been coming into Spring/Summer I'd probably have left them on another 6 months.

I had Bridgestone ER300s as original fitment on my SC SE which lasted 42k and were very noisy. If you can afford them Michelin are the best but I couldn't so went for Goodyear Efficient Grip and are great. Much quieter and I got them for £85 each fitted from Formula 1 locally using their price match. They like to beat any quote you have got and normally knock a bit more off.

I agree that the ER300s are noisy and brittle. My other Ibiza has Conti PC2. Softer, slightly quieter but seems to be wearing slightly quicker. Fronts do have an additional 55lbft to transfer which may explain it.
