Unlocking all doors with key

As a new Seat owner, I apologise if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find it on a search.

My question is whether it is possible to modify the behaviour of the key unlocking the car? It's disappointing that Seat only supply 1 remote fob and needless to say, I have ended up with the non-remote version (ie just the key).

I'd like to be able to unlock all doors at the same time with the key. At the moment, in the pouring rain I have to unlock the door, get in, put the key in the ignition and then press the door unlock control, which means the passengers get rather wet.

I've tried the manual, which isn't exactly clear on this, and played with the setting via the display but don't seem to be able to change it.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to modify this myself but, worst case, is this something which a dealer can change?

Thanks in advance

If i remember correctly....
Remote key... Press unlock twice to unlock all doors.

None remote key, turn to unlock position twice??

If not ask the dealer to disable single door unlock on the VAG-COM

No luck so far...........

Thanks for the replies.

I know logically you'd expect using the key twice might unlock all doors but it doesn't.

Also, not only does my key need to be in the ignition, the ignition needs to be on for the internal button work. Rather inconvenient and, more importantly, a safety concern. I don't know why Seat designed it that way (or were stingy with keys).

That is odd, I cant say what the situation is with a non remote key as I got two, but if i unlock drivers door I can press button on console and ope rest of doors, mine is a Reference '05 and was on a 55 plate when bought it.

Only Vag-com would probably show this up. I wonder if there is a manual way of resetting it as with the manual way of adding a remote key? Mine wasn't bought new and got two remote keys :harhar:

I bet it is a newer Altea.
I found SEAT started to do allot of cost cutting on the newer models.

I got two remote keys with mine. also my interior door unlock switch works without the key being in the ignition.

I bet the 12v power sockets don't come on unless the car is turned on with the car in question... Sounds like a newer model.

Anyway, the key unlock thing.. This is something that can be done from a VAG-COM, i have seen the option on the screen when my Altea as on there.

You can either ask on the forum in the vag-com section for someone willing to help you out in your area (needs to be able to talk to CAN BUS cars).
Or if not, when you car is next due a service, just sweet talk the main sealer into doing it on their vag-com. Some will charge and some wont.

Cheers

Thanks for replies

I'll try the last suggestion about VAG-COM, although I think Seat should do something about this as it is a safety issue.

In answer to question, yes it is a newer Atea - Stylance 07 Model (March) and so it seems a retrograde step taken by Seat in this area.

I got one flip key and one dead key. if you press the button once to get in the unlock button inside works without the key in ignition.

if you use a key in the door to open, the unlock button is dead until the ignition is turned to the first positon.

My 12v are always on.

One other option is to look at the flip key threads...

If you don't mind a big bunch of keys you could have your current key and an ebay flip key with an uncut blade on the same keyring just to use for remote central locking.

flip keys aren't expensive from ebay. and don't seem to be hard to program for the central locking. It's the immobiliser that seems to be hard to sort out.

That makes sense, because the flip key also disables/enables the alarm. If the other key is used, you need to switch the ignition on to switch off the alarm. Therefore enabling the unlock button.
