Been out in my cupra today. On the way home a warning light came on. Checked the manual and its the diagnosis / excess pollution light came. :wtf:

Got home switched off the engine turned the engine back on, light still on. In the manual it states that it should go off after a few seconds. Mines staying on. :censored:

Anybody knows what it could be? :help:

Would hitting a rather large pot hole cause this problem?

Just had problems starting it.

Took three attempts.

Just booked it in for a diagnostic at the garage in an hour.

Spoke to seat they said it could be nothing.

rough running? does it sound like a impreza... if so look at a coilpack, light comes on when they go.

id have got a fault code reader for 30quid and checked the code myself before a garage charges you 60quid an hour for labour mate....

could be as simple as a coilpack and a very easy diy fix

I think i will. Never had any problems in 2 years.

Just went out and had a look at the car. Took 3 attempts to start it. On the 2nd attempt made a huge pop noise followed by a puff of black smoke. On the 3rd attempt started fine no black smoke.

Just took it into my local garage. Had a scan done.

Bought up one fault. Cambelt moved check cam sensor.

The mechanic said if i replace the sensor th fault with it starting would be corrected.

Is this right?

I'd be checking the cambelt timing first.

Whats the mileage and age? When was the cambelt done?

Its on 67000 miles mate. It was due to go into the garage to get the cambelt and waterpump changed next week.

Blimey it should have been done years ago, dont tell me its still on its original belt?

I'd check the cambelt timing before doing anything else.

If the cam timing is out for sure.

Just hope with the missfire and that camshaft sensor fault you havent bent valves.

All this from hitting a pot hole.

Be nice to know if your logging any fault codes still.

But if it starts up and runs ok on the third go or so doesnt sound like anything too serious, sorry to worry you,

Let us know what happens when its looked at.

Thanks for your help mate. Its nice to know what it could possibly be.

I've been in touch with worcestershire county council and they're sending me out a claims form. They said i can claim off their insurance company for the damage to my car.

I went back out earlier and got photos of the pot hole. I measured it and it was 7 inches deep.

I don't understand why a pot hole would have anything to do with these faults..

A nicked tyre, bent wheel, damaged suspension arm maybe..

Yea your cambelt is well past due as mine was! Almost 2 years out and also by suggested mileage.

Good luck claiming from the council. A friend wrote a brand new bike off from hitting a pot hole and never saw a penny.
Council can't be expected to know every pothole and fix it so if your pothole hadn't been reported before you hit it you stand little chance at making a successful claim.

I don't understand either mate. It could be just one of those strange things that happen in life.

I'f you don't try you'll never know.
