Usb connection under drivers seat

Hello i have found the usb port under my drivers seat on my leon fr550 58 plate i have tried to play music from my iphone through the charging/data cable through the port and it doesnt work all it does is flick from charging to not charging on the phone am i doing something wrong do i need a different cable by the way im using the standard mp3 radio unit

Is there a 3.5mm socket next to it? You need a cable that connects to both USB and 3.5mm
