Hi guys, Iv just bought a 2012 mk2 Leon and was after some advice on the USB port. I bought one of the iPod cables from eBay which plugs into the USB and into the aux for sound but I'm finding that the sound quality is very poor and sounds very grainy. Is there anything else I can buy or a different cable that will make the sound better? Cheers

Do you have a link to the one you bought?

I got one for a fiver off Amazon and use that with a 30-pin to lighting adapter to connect to my iPhone 6 and that works fine. I just checked and the exact one I bought is no longer available. They should all be pretty much the same inside though...

i don't have the link sorry but it cost about £7. It works with bringing up the song list and playing them, it is just the sound quality is grainy. Is the sound ok on yours?

Yeah, sound quality is fine on mine.

Are you using a 30-pin to lightning adapter? If so, that could also be a suspect with poor audio quality issues.

Devices with a 30-pin connector include an analogue audio output whereas the lightning devices do not, and rely on an in-cable DAC for use with older connections like the Leon's.

No it doesn't have the 30 pin connector literally the USB with the aux part for my iPod classic. Possibly a dodgy cable?

Could be yeah. Have you checked the settings on the stereo? I think on mine there's two level settings for the aux input.

I didn't realise there were two different settings for aux. this could be it, I'll try it when I get home from work. Thanks

I have to run my iPod through aux, just through USB does nothing and if I connect via Bluetooth it works great and can use steering wheel controls.....but knocks my connection to my phone off
