I have had my new FR 1.4 ACT for 2.5 months now and must say I'm most impressed with it.

The fuel efficiency is most impressive, today I did two normal journeys the first a visit to my daughters (21 mile round trip) with a couple of overtakes on the way. It returned an average of 52 mpg.

The second trip, this evening into Milton Keynes (20 mile round trip, lots of roundabouts), returned an avg of 48 mpg.

I like the LED lights, I know that some people don't ;)

I like the sound system and phone connectivity.

The only down side is my wife likes it too and want to drive it when ever we go out together :(

I have it for about 4 months now and as you are, I am also pleased with it. I also average 50-55 mpg on country roads with some city driving in between with average speed of 70km/h, that is from 50km/h in the city and up to 100km/h outside(plus a couple of overtakes), climate control always on plus my wife and two kids aboard. Plus it's an estate. I can say that it's simply a brilliant engine.

Even with a cold engine on a cold mornings, when my wife makes a short trip to the kindergarden and back(2 x 1km) 2 times per day, 20 times per month and makes at least 40 short trips to the markets or the doctors(3-5km) and so on, we still average about 40 mpg per tank, maybe 35 mpg if we do mostly city driving with lots of stops.

I averaged 20-25mpg with my 2005 Bimmer 330i xDrive with the same trips and 17-20mpg with 2000 528iA:D. So until now, this engine is a blessing from heaven:D. Well, it is a fact, that the Bimmers were 500 kg heavier but still.

I also like the LEDs but they are crap when the weather gets bad or if they get dusty, too much shining and not enough visibility. I also noticed they tend to mist up when it's cold and wet for a couple of days. Also the interior quality starts to show when it's freezing cold, plastic wining in the cabin until it warms up. I am still in love with the colour I chose, still staring a the car when I walk torwards it, but it hurts when you see a new scratch from time to time(it's parked in a public parking lot). The NAV radio is slow as hell and pretty non user friendly too. But on the other hand, the Seat Sound System is a blast for the extra 260 EUR:D.

So to draw the line here, I am plesantly surprised that Seat and WV make pretty solid cars but it could always be better for the price:D.

It will be worth the wait, you'll love the 1.4 engine :)

That's impressive, I've not used the climate control, other than briefly to de-mist the windscreen.

I do have 16 inch wheel now during the winter, so this may be the difference. But still 55mpg can be achieved if you're gentle and 50 if you rev it higher a couple of times. Should stay the same, when temperatures go up and 18 inch wheels fitted again:).

I've never had more than 49mpg from my MK2 2.0 PD Tdi, always average 46MPG/tank, trip computer always reads more through, I really don't know how you guys do it.

Not sure I can afford to keep running a diesel..

It does seem that these small petrol turbo engines are now very efficient.

It's still no where near the advertised mpg figures, but frankly I didn't expect it to be.

The engine is physically very small and made of aluminium, so little mass which helps balance and warm up speed in the winter.

I agree. Factory figures simply can't be achieved. Especially in town driving. Never can you achieve the 47 mpg, 30-40 is a more realistic one, plus you can never start you journey with a spot on warmed engine...I would love that function:D.

Very happy with mine as well, my only annoyance so far is lack of a warning for low washer fluid. Previous Audi A1 had this, in the Leon you get no warning, it just runs out!

Strange , mine has giving me plenty of warning. Came on the MFD and I topped it up a couple of days later, still used washer system (including headlight wash) up until then with still some left.

Only the winter pack comes with the sensor.
