Just a question to see if any of you have had this before...

My new Leon ST is currently sat at the dealers having arrived from Tyne Docks yesterday.

I had previously been given the cars VIN Number by the dealer and CS after it was built on the 10th March. I looked at the car this morning when I went to sign the finance papers and the numer in the windscreen is the same.

I have tried on a number of occasions now to input this number into the parts website that has been mentioned on here before but for some reason the number is not recognised.

Is this something that anybody has had before?
Presumably there is a big database of VIN numbers somewhere where the cars are registered once built.

Not sure if I should be concerned about this or not seeing as the car is built, it will need to be sorted before the car is registered in the UK for the V5 document.

Until the car is actually registered by the dealer you wont find anything. iirc as my boss has just been given his vin no for his focus but when he checks on fords system there is nothing. They told him until it has actually been registered in the uk on the dealers system you wont find anything.

Thanks JC. I imagined that SEAT would log the chassis number onto some huge database as it rolls out of the factory and that when the dealer registers the car they would find the details there.

Hopefully shall be able to see the details on line in the next few days as the dealers are registering the car tomorrow (1st April) ready for me to collect later in the week.
